Mid-day visit to the pickers

PickersWent up to see how the picking is getting on. Very hot.  The dust lays in a thick layer on the roads and in the rows between the vines.  It’s very fine and every step creates puffs of dust that hang in the hot air. Strangely it reminds me of footage of men walking on the moon._DSC0090

  1. Dear Henry,
Not being able to find an on-line weather reporting station near Malvedos, what have the temperatures been like during the days and nights lately?

    Best regards,
    Andy Velebil

    1. Hi Andy. Its been hot certainly, but not unusually hot for the Douro. Fortunately it cools down nicely at night so we can get a little sleep. We will post more detailed temperature info on our Vintage Port Site at http://www.thevintageportsite.com in the harvest report sections, as soon as the viticulturalist team has a moment to write one up. Cheers Henry
